Do not upgrade to Mac OS X El Capitan or you could break printing and access to the DePauw network. #AnnounceIT

We do not recommend you upgrade to Mac OS X El Capitan when it is released on September 30th because Information Services has not had time to thoroughly test it with all our systems. Do not take the chance of breaking your ability to print or access the DePauw network.

Please let us know at HelpDesk@depauw.edu or (765) 658-4294 if you have any questions or concerns.

Reminder: e-Services accounts for upperclass students will have a new look beginning 4/29. #AnnounceIT

2-days until new e-Services look for upperclass students

Beginning Wednesday, April 29th, e-Services accounts for upperclass students will have a new look, as shown below. This is the same look that first-year students have been using all year. It’s important to note that faculty and staff accounts will not change as part of this update.

The top section of student’s home page (labeled “A” in the image below) is for messages related to course registration and other timely academic events throughout the year. The messages section (“B” below) that is just below the messages section lists the student’s faculty advisor(s).

All of the familiar links and information that student’s use today will still be available through the e-Services menu, just by expanding the appropriate section (Academics, for example):

Preserve your email and other data from your DePauw IT Accounts now. #AnnounceIT

Class of 2015

As you are going through your graduation to-do list, schedule time to preserve your email and other data from your DePauw IT accounts. In the following, you will learn the timeline for when your primary DePauw IT accounts will no longer be available to you, resources you can use to preserve email and other data, and information on services available to DePauw alumni.

DePauw IT Account Access will retire on October 31, 2015

Network

Be sure you save any documents you wish to keep from your class (I:) drive, personal (P:) drive, and Web (W:) drive before the end of October 2015.

e-Services

To request a transcript after October 31, 2015, browse to the transcript ordering portal on the Registrar’s Transcripts website.

Google Apps (email, calendar, drive, etc.)

Download a copy of the Google Apps data you want to keep, including your email, calendar, and more, by going into your Account settings and clicking Download data in the Account tools section. Once started, archives may take several hours or days to create depending on how much data you have selected to download. Be sure to start this process before the middle of October 2015 so there is plenty of time for your archive to be completed.

IT Recommendation Checklist and Resources

You can also find a helpful IT recommendation checklist that includes additional resources at Graduating Senior Accounts. These tips will guide you through setting up a personal email account, updating online account information (e.g., checking account, credit card, cell phone password recovery, etc.) so that you do not lose access to them after your DePauw IT accounts are retired on 10/31/2015, how you can let others know your new contact information, and more.
